The Lahore court is to frame formal charges against the influencer and other accused over alleged promotion of illegal betting apps.
Pakistan.- A Lahore court is expected to formally charge Pakistani YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman (AKA Ducky Bhai) and others on January 16 in a case related to the alleged promotion of illegal online gambling applications. The proceedings are being heard by Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo following the submission of a challan by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The case has been filed under Pakistan’s Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, along with multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including charges related to electronic fraud, spamming, spoofing and cheating.
According to the NCCIA, Ducky Bhai and his associates used their social media reach to promote unlicensed gambling and betting applications, allegedly targeting a large online audience. Investigators claim the platforms defrauded users of millions of rupees.
The YouTuber was arrested in August after being detained at Lahore Airport while allegedly attempting to leave the country. Ducky Bhai’s wife Aroob Jatoi has been named among the accused due to her alleged role in managing channel operations and facilitating the promotion of gambling-related content.
