The Philippines.- The Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) has said that it deported 91 Chinese nationals for working in unauthorised online gambling. The group on a Philippine Airlines Flight for China on September 19.
The flight was arranged by the Chinese embassy, who assisted in the deportation by the BI’s Deportation and Implementation Unit (DIU) under chief Atty. Alexi Val Arciaga. The BI reported that the deportees were among those taken into custody during various inter-agency operations with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission on POGO operations in Pasay and Paranaque, as well as mining operations in Homonhon. Some detainees remain in custody due to pending court cases.

BI commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said: “We remain steadfast in enforcing our immigration laws. Those who abuse their stay in the Philippines and engage in unlawful activities will be dealt with accordingly,” he stated.
