Spinit, Lucky Ones7, The Pokies and Slot Lounge have received warnings.
Australia.- The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued a series of warning letters for “serious breaches” of Australian gambling law. The warnings were directed to Stellar Ltd, operator of Spinit; Just Entertainment B.V., operator of Lucky Ones7; Digibrite S.R.L., operator of The Pokies; and Hollycorn N.V., operator of Slot Lounge.
According to the regulator, the four platforms offered gambling services to Australians without the required licences under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. ACMA warned that failure to comply with Australian legislation may result in further enforcement action, including requesting that internet service providers block access to the offending websites.
The ACMA says that since it made its first blocking request in November 2019, 1,322 illegal gambling and affiliate websites have been blocked. In September, ACMA issued a request to block five gambling websites. It also ordered Betfair to pay a AU$871,660 (US$567,082) penalty after breaching spam laws in commercial messages sent to VIP customers.
