Ainsworth Game Technology faces 7.3% profit decline

Ainsworth attributed its challenging financial outlook to an expected 20 per cent revenue decline in its key North American market.

Australia.- The gaming technology firm Ainsworth Game Technology has projected that its full-year profit will decline by 7.3 per cent year-on-year to AUD21.5m (US$14.2m). It forecasts that underlying profit before tax for the six months to December 31 will be around AUD7.6m (US$5m), a 45.3 per cent decrease from the AUD13.9m (US$9.2m) achieved in the first half of 2024.

The slot machine maker predicts a revenue drop of 11 per cent in the second half, from AUD152.1m (US$100.5m) in the first half to around AUD135.4m (US$89.4m). It anticipates full-year EBITDA of AUD48m (US$31.7m), marginally below the AUD48.2m (US$31.8m) recorded in 2024. The second half of 2025 is expected to contribute around AUD21.1m (US$13.9m), down from AUD26.9m (US$17.8m) in the first half.

In its filing to the Australian Securities Exchange, Ainsworth said it expected a 20 per cent revenue decline in the North American market in the second half of 2025. The firm attributed this to the timing of video lottery terminal unit sales and distributor purchases. It also pointed to a decline in North American participation revenue resulting from both a decrease in installed units and a drop in average daily yield.

However, in the Asia-Pacific region, the company expects revenue to remain stable in the second half, maintaining gains made in the first half with the launch of the A-Star Raptor slot cabinet in February. It expects a modest revenue increase in Latin America, despite challenges such as the tax rise in Mexico to take effect in January 2026.

Ainsworth plans to invest 17.5 per cent of its total revenue in research and development for the financial year 2025, up from 16 per cent in the first half of the year.
