Brazil’s igaming market is booming, but many operators remain in a comfort zone. While local brands continue to rely heavily on casino products, global leaders are increasingly focusing on sports betting.

The numbers support this shift. By the end of 2025, Brazil’s licensed betting sector generated R$37bn in GGR (US$7.5bn), marking the first full year of a regulated online market.

According to H2-OpenBet, sports betting accounted for 55 per cent of total online betting and gaming GGR, making it the single largest vertical in the market.

In this context, treating a sportsbook as a secondary product is no longer a conservative approach – it’s a missed commercial opportunity.

Co-founder and COO Dinos Stranomitis will address this during the panel “The Undefined Value of Sports Betting in Brazil.”

The message is clear: future leaders will be those who scale beyond casino by embracing sportsbooks. Altenar’s ongoing expansion in São Paulo reflects this direction – towards more balanced, data-driven operations where sportsbooks play a central role.
