Pakistan.- The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has filed a case against YouTuber Rajab Butt, accusing him of promoting unlicensed gambling and trading applications on his social media platforms. The move follows the arrest of another high-profile influencer, Saad ur Rehman, better known as Ducky Bhai.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Butt is accused of acting as a brand ambassador for well-known betting platforms and of failing to appear before the NCCIA to provide a defence. The case includes charges of electronic forgery, fraud, spamming and spoofingunder the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 and cheating and offering prizes connected with trade under the Pakistan Penal Code.
Rehman, who has over eight million YouTube subscribers, was detained in August after being accused of working as a country manager for a gambling app and handling major financial transactions. His bail request was denied earlier this month, with a Lahore court ruling that the alleged promotion of illegal betting platforms had significant social consequences.
