China.- Lottery ticket sales in China rose 1.5 per cent year-on-year to CNY476.14bn (US$67.13bn) in the first nine months of 2025, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance. Sales of welfare lottery tickets reached CNY159.75bn (US$22.53bn), while sports lottery sales amounted to CNY316.39bn (US$44.60bn). Both were up 1.5 per cent from the same period last year.
In September, lottery sales totalled CNY52.9bn (US$7.46bn), a 2.8 per cent increase compared to the previous year after a dip in August. Growth was supported by a balance between digital and instant lottery formats and solid performance in provinces such as Xinjiang, Hebei and Shandong.
Under China’s lottery management framework, funds raised from ticket sales are distributed among administrative costs, public welfare initiatives and prize pools.
