China.- Lottery ticket sales in China rose 6 per cent year-on-year to CNY46.89bn (US$6.62bn) in October, according to figures released by the Ministry of Finance. Sales from the Welfare Lottery reached CNY15bn (US$2.12bn), up 3.4 per cent, while sports Lottery sales climbed 7.3 per cent to CNY31.89bn (US$4.5bn).
From January to October, cumulative nationwide lottery sales amounted to around CNY523bn (US$73.85bn), a rise of 1.9 per cent year-on-year. Analysts expect full-year sales to remain generally stable amid steady participation and ongoing adjustments in digital and instant lottery formats in key provinces.
Funds are allocated to administrative expenses, public welfare programmes and prize pools.
