Delta Corp’s aims to realign its finances amid increased GST on casinos.
India.- The casino and hotel operator Delta Corp has confirmed plans to cease operations at The Zuri White Sands Goa, Resort and Casino, operated by the subsidiary Delta Pleasure Cruise Company. Operations will cease from January 9.
The company cited operating losses as the reason and said the decision wouldn’t significantly affect its finances. Delta Zuri accounts for 2.13 per cent or Rs 155.1m (US$1.72m) of Delta Corp’s turnover and has negative net worth of Rs 152.6m (US$1.68m).
The decision aligns with Delta Corp’s efforts to realign finances after the government’s increased GST on casinos. The company previously suspended its integrated resort/township project in Dhargal, Goa. Group chairman Jaydev Mody had warned that the increased GST on casinos would affect the viability of casino business in the jurisdiction.
