The Philippines.- DigiPlus Interactive Corp has responded to reports that suggest it may acquire Melco Resorts & Entertainment’s stake in City of Dreams Manila, an integrated resort co-owned with Belle Corporation. The company confirmed that it is exploring potential acquisitions to complement its digital assets, but stated that no definitive agreements have been finalised.
The clarification follows a September 18 report by Bilyonaryo, which named DigiPlus as the leading contender to purchase Melco’s share in the Manila resort. Melco confirmed discussions with potential buyers in May.
City of Dreams Manila is a 50-50 venture between Melco and Belle Corp, controlled by the Sy family. DigiPlus is reportedly seeking to diversify its portfolio amid regulatory pressures in the domestic online gaming sector. Analysts suggest that acquiring a land-based asset like City of Dreams could strengthen its position.
