The European visitor market has reached 80 per cent of 2019 levels.
Macau.- Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, the director of Macau’s Government Tourism Office (MGTO), has expressed confidence that European visitors to Macau will reach pre-pandemic levels. Speaking to reporters at the 50th Congress of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT), she said visitors to Macau from Europe had recovered to 80 per cent of 2019 levels in the January-October period.
She said that attracting foreign visitors remains a key priority and that the tourism office will increase its promotional efforts in Europe next year, attending trade fairs and developing new tourism products in a bid to diversify the city’s tourism structure.

The Statistics and Census Service of Macau (DSEC) reported that the number of visitor arrivals to Macau reached 3.4 million in October 2025. That’s a rise of 10.8 per cent year-on-year. In the first ten months of 2025, number of visitor arrivals rose by 14.1 per cent year-on-year to 33,143,547; same-day visitors (19,382,049) and overnight visitors (13,761,498) grew by 24.1 per cent and 2.4 per cent respectively.
Macau’s GGR for the first ten months was MOP205.43bn (US$25.64bn), an 8 per cent increase year-on-year but 16.7 per cent below the January-October period in 2019, when GGR totalled MOP246.74bn (US$30.8bn).
