Macau.- The Financial Intelligence Office (FIO) has reported that casino operators filed 2,751 Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) in the first nine months of 2025. That’s a decrease of 9.5 per cent year-on-year from 3,041 reports in the same period of 2024.
Suspicious transaction reports across all sectors totalled 3,752 in the reported period, down 8.9 per cent from 4,118 in the first nine months of 2024. Gaming accounted for 73.3 per cent of all STRs, while financial institutions and insurance companies submitted 789 reports, representing 21 per cent. Other institutions filed 212 reports, representing 5.7 per cent.
The gaming sector’s share of STRs decreased slightly from 73.8 per cent in the first nine months of 2024 to 73.3 per cent in 2025. Meanwhile, reports from financial institutions and insurance companies increased from 20.5 per cent to 21 per cent year-over-year.

In January, the Financial Intelligence Office (FIO) reported that casino operators filed 3,837 Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) in full-year 2024, an increase of 11.8 per cent year-on-year. Gaming accounted for 73.2 per cent of all STRs.
