Executives point to the RWS 2.0 transformation following the company’s shorter-than-expected licence renewal in 2024.
Singapore.- Genting Singapore has expressed confidence in its readiness for its next casino licence review. Management highlighted ongoing transformation efforts after the casino licence for Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) was renewed for just two years in 2024 due to tourism performance during the pandemic-affected 2021–2023 period.
In responses to shareholder questions ahead of its April 15 annual general meeting, the group stated reiterated that the shorter renewal period was largely tied to external conditions rather than structural weaknesses due to the pandemic. It said it believes it is well positioned for the next assessment cycle.
It highlighted its RWS 2.0 transformation strategy, a multi-billion-dollar investment programme aimed at enhancing the resort’s appeal and aligning it more closely with Singapore’s tourism ambitions. The initiative includes new attractions, hospitality offerings and retail concepts.
