The three-year partnership will support educational programmes aimed at strengthening national awareness and international outlook among students.
Hong Kong.- The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has signed a three-year collaboration agreement with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (OCMFA) to deepen diplomatic education and foster a stronger national perspective among Hong Kong youth.
The agreement will enhance support for two flagship initiatives: the Hong Kong Cup Diplomatic Knowledge Contest and the Diplomacy Summer Camp for University Students in Hong Kong. Through the partnership, both parties aim to strengthen young people’s understanding of China’s diplomatic work, reinforce national identity and pride, and nurture a new generation with a national vision and global outlook.
The signing ceremony followed a meeting between HKJC representatives and Cui Jianchun, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the HKSAR. Commissioner Cui praised the club’s long-standing support for the Diplomatic Knowledge Contest and encouraged HKJC to continue leveraging its unique strengths to support Hong Kong’s integration into the country’s overall development, while promoting international exchange and cooperation.
HKJC chairman The Hon. Martin Liao said: “Youth development has long been a key focus of the club. We have worked closely with the OCMFA in this area for many years. Through this new agreement, we will further strengthen this collaboration to help Hong Kong youth gain a deeper understanding of our nation’s diplomatic endeavours.
“At the same time, the club will continue to actively contribute to the development of the nation and the Greater Bay Area through sports, arts and culture, charitable initiatives, and regional integration. Leveraging our unique international network and professional expertise, we are committed to strengthening Hong Kong’s role as a ‘super connector’ between the Chinese Mainland and the world.”
Since 2009, the HKJC has been a strong supporter of the “Hong Kong Cup Diplomatic Knowledge Contest” organised by the OCMFA, funding winning students to visit cities in the Chinese Mainland and experience the country’s development firsthand. The contest has achieved remarkable results and steadily expanded in scale, attracting nearly 80,000 primary and secondary school students across Hong Kong in 2025, a record-high turnout.
This year, the club further stepped up its support by extending the collaboration to the “Diplomacy Summer Camp for University Students in Hong Kong,” funding Hong Kong university students for study and cultural exchange visits in the Chinese Mainland and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.
