Vietnam’s Hoiana Resort & Golf is moving ahead with the second phase of its long-term development plan, expanding its non-gaming offer as it seeks to strengthen its position as a regional tourism and gaming destination.
Vietnam.- Hoiana Resort & Golf, one of Vietnam’s largest integrated resorts, will add more than 1,000 new five-star hotel rooms as part of a US$1bn Phase 2 expansion, according to details disclosed by developer Hoi An South Development Co Ltd.
The second development phase will also include 198 beachfront villas, a multi-purpose convention centre for up to 2,500 guests, a family-focused retail and entertainment zone, and a second 18-hole golf course linked to a professional training academy offering international certifications. The expansion will additionally feature Vietnam’s first outlet mall combined with a duty-free shopping centre.
The update was provided by General Director Nguyen Vinh Tran during a business forum in Da Nang and reported by local media outlet The Investor. The Phase 2 development will cover around 209 hectares and follows the completion of Hoiana’s US$1.4bn first phase, which opened in 2020.
Phase 1 includes approximately 1,200 hotel rooms, Vietnam’s largest casino, with 140 gaming tables and more than 270 electronic gaming machines, and an international-standard golf course. The casino currently operates on a foreign-only basis, prompting the resort to place increasing emphasis on destination-led tourism rather than gaming alone.
Management has positioned the expansion as part of a broader strategy to attract international visitors through non-gaming amenities, particularly golf tourism, events and luxury retail. The full Hoiana master plan spans nearly 985 hectares, with total investment projected at around US$4bn across seven phases, targeting completion by 2029.
