The initiative, developed with Hong Kong China Rugby and the Hong Kong Football Club, will combine racing, rugby and entertainment at Sha Tin and Happy Valley.
Hong Kong.- The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has announced the launch of “Racing with Rugby”, a new initiative designed to combine the two sports in a series of events scheduled throughout April.
Developed in partnership with Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) and the Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC), the programme will launch on April 12 at Sha Tin Racecourse, featuring a ceremony in the Parade Ring and the announcement of the Hong Kong China Men’s and Women’s Rugby Sevens teams. The event will include a full race day, entertainment and opportunities for fans to meet rugby players.
On April 15 , the Happy Wednesday race night at Happy Valley Racecourse will adopt a rugby theme coinciding with the HKFC 10s tournament, allowing fans to attend rugby matches before heading to the racecourse for racing and live entertainment, including performances by singer Jason Donovan and music group BABBA.
The initiative will feature pre-sales of Team Hong Kong, China jerseys and rugby-themed merchandise at both racecourses, as well as community-focused activities. These include HKJC volunteer programmes, youth rugby initiatives, and ticket distribution for students, elderly residents and underserved communities during the Hong Kong Sevens and HKFC 10s events.
