Indonesia.- Online gambling deposits in Indonesia rose following Eid al-Fitr, according to the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK). The agency has reported a “sharp” increase in deposits both during and immediately after the March 19–20 holiday.
PPATK chief Ivan Yustiavandana said the pattern was consistent with previous years. “The sharpest increase typically occurs after Eid, when money circulation rises nationwide,” he said, noting that higher disposable income and increased leisure time during the holidays tend to drive betting activity despite the ongoing crackdown.
In recent weeks,police dismantled 132 online casino sites in a coordinated operation led by the national police’s cybercrime unit.
