Industrial production down 1.6 percent, but it’s not all bad news

Brazil’s industrial production fell 1.6 percent in January compared to the previous month, the national statistics institute IBGE reported today. The result was driven by a decline in four of the 25 segments surveyed: manufacturing of clothing and accessories, textile products, extractive industries, and food.  These last two segments had grown in the previous months
