Inspire Entertainment Resort CEO Chen Si named COO of Resorts World Sentosa

Chen Si will move to RWS from December.


Singapore.- Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has announced the appointment of Si Chen as chief operating officer (COO). The current CEO and representative director of Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon, South Korea, will take up the position on December 1.

Resorts World Sentosa said that Chen’s appointment reflects a “continued focus on leadership renewal and sustained operational performance as the resort advances its transformation under RWS 2.0.” 

As COO, Si will assist RWS chief executive officer, Lee Shi Ruh and oversee day-to-day operational performance and enhancement of guest experience. Si brings nearly two decades of international experience in the gaming and hospitality industry in several senior leadership roles in integrated resorts across the region.

“We welcome Mr. Si and look forward to his contributions as RWS continues its journey of transformation and growth, reinforcing its position as the leading integrated resort and premier tourism destination in Asia,” RWS said in a press release.

Meanwhile, Inspire Entertainment Resort has named Gyubum Ko to replace Si as chief executive from December 1. It described Ko as a “business leader with over 20 years of proven leadership and management capabilities in global markets”.

Ko has held senior leadership positions at companies including Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Smith & Nephew, and Stryker. Since November 2024, he has served as an independent board member of Jeisys Medical, a cosmetic medical device company.

Inspire said Ko had “amassed extensive multi-national experience by successfully growing new businesses and companies in countries including Korea, the U.S., China, Singapore, the U.K., the UAE, and Australia”.

“I am truly excited to join INSPIRE at such a dynamic time of growth in the global casino and integrated resort industry,” Ko said. “Drawing on international experience and customer insights gained in diverse business environments, I look forward to working closely with INSPIRE’s talented team to drive innovation, deep customer engagement, and deliver long-term value for our guests, employees, and stakeholders.”

Ohsang Kwon, partner at Bain Capital, Seoul, representing Inspire’s majority owner, US-based Bain Capital, said: “Under the leadership of CEO Chen Si, Inspire has successfully opened and achieved a number of key milestones during its initial ramp-up phase. The resort welcomed 4 million visitors in its first year of operation and has established itself as a leading entertainment destination for staycationers, tourists, convention guests, and global music fans.”

Kwon added: “We are confident that Mr Ko’s leadership, combining international experience and deep market insight, will further enhance that momentum. Bain Capital is excited to continue working closely with Inspire’s management team to continue investing in the resort’s long-term growth and operational excellence.”
