South Korea.- Kangwon Land, the only casino in South Korea allowed to serve local residents, has commenced refurbishment of its VIP gaming floor. A temporary area will accommodate premium play for the next 12 months with 20 live-dealer tables and the same gaming mix as the former VIP area.
The VIP gaming upgrade is part of the resort’s multi-year development plan, the “K-HIT 1.0 Project”, which has a KRW3.00trn (US$2.08bn) budget and a 2035 completion target.
Situated in a remote mountainous area of Gangwon Province, Kangwon Land primarily depends on local visitors. Through the revamp, it aims to modernise its facilities and strengthen its competitiveness as a domestic tourism and entertainment destination. A wider renovation of its members-only gaming area is scheduled to last from March 20, 2026 to April 13, 2027.
