South Korea.- Kangwon Land, South Korea’s only casino open to locals, has announced the appointment of Nam Han-Gyu as its new interim chief executive officer. The leadership change follows the departure of Choi Cheol-Kyoo, who had been serving as vice-president and executive director.
Nam had been head of the company’s management support division since June 2024. Before joining the gaming operator, he served as the director of the Regulatory Reform and Legal Affairs Division of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. He’s now tasked with steering the public-enterprise casino operator while a permanent CEO search progresses.
Kangwon Land reported that total sales for 2025 reached almost KRW1.48tn (US$1.03bn), a 3.5 per cent increase from a year earlier. The company plans to invest KRW126.4bn (US$88.0m) in 2026 for casino VIP floor renovations, construction of a second casino, resort room upgrades, and replacement of gaming equipment.
