Authorities in Kuala Lumpur have arrested four individuals allegedly linked to a “mini casino”.
Malaysia.- Police in Kuala Lumpur have targeted an alleged illegal gambling operation in a raid on a residential property in the upscale Bukit Damansara area. Four suspects – three men and one woman aged between 27 and 49 – were arrested, including a foreign national from Hong Kong, who is also being investigated for immigration violations after allegedly failing to present valid travel documentation.
Police said the group had been active since 2022, using websites and social media platforms gambling to international players, focusing on markets such as Taiwan, South Korea, the Philippines and Thailand.
Authorities described the setup as a “mini casino,” but it appears to have been an entirely online operation. The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(g) of Malaysia’s Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which criminalises operating or promoting gambling activities. If found guilty, the suspects could face significant penalties under strict anti-gambling laws.
