Inspectors will visit gaming venues across New South Wales throughout March and April to assess staff awareness of responsible gambling obligations.
Australia.- The New South Wales regulator, Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW), has launched a new compliance campaign aimed at reinforcing gambling harm minimisation practices across gaming venues in the state. Throughout March and early April 2026, inspectors will visit venues to speak directly with staff working in gaming areas, focusing on their understanding of responsible gambling requirements.
The conversations, which typically last between five and 10 minutes, are designed to ensure staff are familiar with core responsibilities. Inspectors may ask employees about a range of operational procedures, including how self-exclusion programmes operate within the venue, how minors are prevented from entering gaming areas, and where mandatory responsible gambling signage is displayed.
Staff may also be asked about rules governing inducements and promotional offers, procedures for recording incidents, and the venue’s Gaming Plan of Management (GPOM).
The regulator emphasised that venue staff play a key role in maintaining safe gambling environments and supporting patrons who may be experiencing difficulties. “Your actions make a real difference to patrons, colleagues, and the broader community,” it said.
Liquor & Gaming NSW has encouraged staff to report any practices that do not align with gambling harm minimisation requirements, including missing signage, unsafe behaviour or concerns regarding how incidents are handled at venues. Employees can report such concerns anonymously through the regulator’s online reporting portal.
