The Macau Grand Prix runs from November 13-16.
Macau.- Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, the director of Macau’s Government Tourism Office (MGTO), has said that Macau expects to receive around 500,000 visitors during the 72nd Macau Grand Prix, which takes place November 13-16. Fernandes anticipates that hotel occupancy rates will reach 90 per cent or higher, similar to previous years.
According to the MGTO director, the influx of visitors could boost local tourism and drive travel to neighbouring Hengqin and other parts of the Greater Bay Area.
The 72nd Macau Grand Prix features seven races: Macau Grand Prix – FIA FR World Cup; Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup; Macau Guia Race – Kumho FIA TCR World Tour Event of Macau; Macau Formula 4 Race – FIA F4 World Cup; Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix – 57th Edition; Greater Bay Area GT Cup (GT4); and Macau Roadsport Challenge.
Last week, Fernandes expressed confidence that Macau will reach its target of between 38 and 39 million visitors this year. She said visitor arrivals have steadily climbed since the pandemic, although the number of package tour visitors remains relatively low, with more tourists using social media and online platforms to plan trips independently.
Last month, the Statistics and Census Service of Macau (DSEC) reported that the number of visitor arrivals to Macau reached 29,671,070 in the first three quarters of 2025, up by 14.5 per cent year-on-year. Same-day visitors (17,278,529) and overnight visitors (12,392,541) rose by 24.9 per cent and 2.5 per cent year-on-year, respectively. The cumulative average length of stay decreased by 0.1 day to 1.1 days, due to the growth in the proportion of same-day visitors. The average duration of stay for same-day visitors (0.2 day) and overnight visitors (2.3 days) remained unchanged year-on-year.
