The latest manpower survey shows steady workforce levels.
Macau.- The gaming sector in Macau employed 52,898 full-time staff by the end of the second quarter of 2025. That’s a rise of 380 workers year-on-year, according to data released today by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). The survey found that average monthly earnings, excluding irregular remuneration, reached MOP27,390 (US$3,402), a 2.4 per cent increase from the same period last year.
Dealers remained the largest group, accounting for around 23,500 employees. Their wages and headcount remained largely unchanged compared to 2024. Directors and managers saw the most significant pay rise, with average monthly earnings climbing 2.8 per cent year-on-year to MOP67,590 (US$8,400). The number of posts rose 14 per cent to 3,183 positions.
The industry had 208 job vacancies at the end of June, a 58.2 per cent decline from the prior year. Most openings were for clerks and associate professionals, with nearly half requiring previous work experience. The employee turnover rate stood at 1.6 per cent, while the recruitment rate was 1.1 per cent, both lower than a year earlier.
The survey, conducted twice a year, does not cover junket promoters or associates.
