The government collected US$2.1bn from casino operations in the first two months of 2026.
Macau.- The Financial Services Bureau has reported that Macau collected MOP19.6bn (US$2.11bn) in casino taxes in the first two months of the year. The figure was up 18.9 per cent year-on-year and accounted for 90.7 per cent of the government revenue. For February, gaming tax revenue reached MOP8.69bn (US$940m).
The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) reported that, cumulatively, Macau’s GGR for the two months of 2026 was MOP43.26bn (US$5.38bn), up 13.9 per cent year-on-year but 14 per cent below pre-pandemic levels in 2019 (US$6.26bn).
Under the 10-year concessions that came into effect on January 1, 2023, casinos pay 40 per cent on GGR. The Macau government’s 2026 fiscal budget plan estimates that income from taxes on the gaming sector will reach MOP92.53bn (US$11.52bn).
Earlier this week, the Financial Services Bureau reported that Macau collected MOP94.85bn (US$11.8bn) in gaming taxes in 2025. The figure was up 7.6 per cent year-on-year, and slightly surpassed the government’s 2025 budget plan forecast of MOP93.12bn (US$11.52bn).
