Macau.- The Financial Services Bureau has reported that Macau collected MOP70.4bn (US$8.78bn) in casino taxes in the first nine months of the year. The figure was up 6 per cent year-on-year.
For September, gaming tax revenue reached MOP8.53bn (US$1.06bn). The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) reported that Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the month was MOP18.3bn (US$2.27bn). That’s an increase of 6 per cent in year-on-year terms, but 17.5 per cent behind August.
Under the 10-year concessions that came into effect on January 1, 2023, casinos pay 40 per cent on GGR. The government’s original 2025 budget plan forecast full-year gaming tax revenue of MOP93.12bn (US$11.52bn). This was revised down in the 2025 fiscal budget amendment bill to MOP79.8bn (US$9.87bn), reflecting a revision of the gaming revenue forecast from MOP240bn ($29.69bn) to MOP228bn ($28.2bn).
Cumulatively, Macau’s GGR for the first nine months of 2025 was MOP181.3bn (US$22.5bn), up 7.1 per cent year-on-year. The figure was 17.7 per cent below pre-pandemic levels (MOP220.2bn / US$27.4bn).
