Macau.- The Financial Services Bureau has reported that Macau collected MOP53.4bn (US$6.64bn) in casino taxes in the first seven months of the year. The figure was up 3.4 per cent year-on-year. For July, the government reported that revenue from gaming taxes reached MOP8.11bn (US$1bn), slightly behind the figure reported in June (MOP8.16bn – US$1bn).
The government’s original 2025 budget plan forecast full-year gaming tax revenue of MOP93.12bn (US$11.52bn). This was revised down in the 2025 fiscal budget amendment bill to MOP79.8bn (US$9.87bn), reflecting a revision of the gaming revenue forecast from MOP240bn ($29.69bn) to MOP228bn ($28.2bn).
Under the 10-year concessions that came into effect on January 1, 2023, casinos pay 40 per cent on GGR. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has reported that Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) was MOP22.13bn (US$2.73bn) in July, an increase of 19 per cent in year-on-year terms and a 5 per cent rise compared to June’s MOP21.06bn (US$2.60bn). It was the best monthly performance since January 2020, just before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cumulatively, Macau’s GGR for the first seven months of 2025 was MOP140.8bn (US$17.4bn), up 6.46 per cent year-on-year. The figure was 19 per cent below pre-pandemic levels (MOP173.95bn / US$21.5bn).
