Visitor arrivals have steadily climbed since the pandemic.
Macau.- Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, the director of Macau’s Government Tourism Office (MGTO), has expressed confidence that Macau will reach its target of between 38 and 39 million visitors this year. She said visitor arrivals have steadily climbed since the pandemic, although the number of package tour visitors remains relatively low, with more tourists using social media and online platforms to plan trips independently.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Macau Grand Prix (November 13-16), the MGTO director said hotel occupancy rates during the four-day event are expected to exceed 90 per cent, similar to previous years.

Last month, the Statistics and Census Service of Macau (DSEC) reported that the number of visitor arrivals to Macau reached 29,671,070 in the first three quarters of 2025, up by 14.5 per cent year-on-year. Same-day visitors (17,278,529) and overnight visitors (12,392,541) rose by 24.9 per cent and 2.5 per cent year-on-year, respectively. The cumulative average length of stay decreased by 0.1 day to 1.1 days, due to the growth in the proportion of same-day visitors. The average duration of stay for same-day visitors (0.2 day) and overnight visitors (2.3 days) remained unchanged year-on-year.
