Macau non-gaming spending rises in Q3

Non-gaming visitor expenditure rose 10.7 per cent year-on-year in the July-September period.


Macau.- The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has reported that non-gaming spending among visitors rose by 10.7 per cent year-on-year to MOP20.38bn (US$2.53bn) in the third quarter of 2025. Overnight visitors spent MOP16.76bn (US$2.09bn) and same-day visitors MOP3.62bn (US$0.45bn), up by 7.6 per cent and 27.6 per cent respectively.

In per capita terms, non-gaming spending fell by 2.6 per cent to MOP1,950 (US$242) due to a rise in the number of low-spending same-day visitors. Visitors spent mainly on shopping (42.4 per cent), followed by accommodation (26.7 per cent) and food & beverages (21.2 per cent).

The per-capita non-gaming spending of visitors from the Chinese mainland (MOP2,123 – US$265) decreased by 5 per cent, while the spending of those from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Hong Kong SAR; MOP1,063 – US$133) and the Taiwan region (MOP2,335 – US$292) rose by 0.1 per cent and 9.8 per cent respectively.

The per-capita spending of international visitors (MOP2,261 – US$282) was up by 3.3 per cent. The figure for visitors from the Republic of Korea (MOP2,460 – US$308) grew by 2.4 per cent year-on-year, whereas that of Japanese visitors (MOP1,939 – US$242) was down by 0.6 per cent. 

For the Southeast Asian markets, visitors from Singapore spent MOP3,921 – US$490, Thailand (MOP3,306 – US$413) and Malaysia (MOP2,548 – US$319), up by 14 per cent, 11.9 per cent and 22.4 per cent year-on-year respectively.

In the first three quarters of 2025, non-gaming spending was up by 3.6 per cent year-on-year at MOP58.25bn (US$7.23bn), with that of overnight visitors (MOP46.77bn- US$5.81bn) and same-day visitors (MOP11.48bn – US$1.43bn) rising by 1.6 per cent and 12.8 per cent respectively.  Per-capita non-gaming spending (MOP1,963 – US$244) dropped by 9.5 per cent year-on-year.
