Macau.- More than 10 million visitors arrived in Macau in the first quarter of 2026, including over 750,000 international visitors. That’s according to secretary for Economy and Finance Tai Kin Ip, who made the remarks during the opening of the 14th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo organised by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
The official said that despite global geopolitical and economic uncertainties, Macau would continue to broaden tourism products, enhance facilities and step up international promotional initiatives. Tai said authorities would actively explore new international source markets while organising large-scale events and improving tourism infrastructure.
International arrivals are seen as important for boosting non-gaming revenue such as retail, hospitality, entertainment and MICE activities across integrated resorts.
Industry observers note that the growth in first-quarter visitation builds on 2025, when Macau recorded more than 40 million visitor arrivals. Recent data from the Public Security Police Force shows that Macau recorded close to 666,000 visitor arrivals between April 3 and April 7, averaging roughly 133,000 arrivals per day. On April 7, the final day of the Easter and Ching Ming holiday period, more than 642,000 passenger crossings were recorded, including 188,000 visitor entries.
