Macau.- The Public Security Police Force (CPSP) has reported that Macau recorded 7.68 million visitor arrivals in July and August, up 15 per cent year-on-year, and 7.4 per cent higher compared to the same period in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. The daily average was 123,000 arrivals per day, and the peak single-day visitor count was 195,000.
Macau’s border checkpoints processed 41.01 million crossings in July and August, averaging 661,000 a day, up 8.5 per cent year-on-year. The Gongbei checkpoint saw the largest share with 52.7 per cent of all traffic. Mainland Chinese tourists made up 75.8 per cent of all visitors, followed by those from Hong Kong.
Macau’s cumulative border crossings for the year have exceeded 150 million, reaching the milestone 23 days earlier than last year. August visitor data will be announced by the statistics service later this month.
