Macau.- Hong Kong medical group iRad is set to build a private hospital at the Melco’s Studio City resort. The healthcare facility is expected to open on October 1, 2025.
Melco International’s subsidiary, Studio City Retail Services, signed an agreement with iRad earlier this year granting it the right to operate a hospital dedicated to imaging and diagnostic medical services. The initial contract will run until November 30, 2034, with the possibility of two additional five-year renewals by mutual consent.
The hospital will occupy 12,618 square feet within the resort. SCRS will be responsible for purchasing and installing all medical equipment. Upon completion of the contract term, iRad will have the option to acquire the equipment for a nominal fee.
Under the agreement, iRad will pay Melco a monthly base fee starting at MOP694,981 (US$86,700), or 1.5 per cent of monthly turnover if that amount exceeds the base fee. The filing specifies that iRad will only be required to pay the higher of the two, not both. From the fourth year onward, iRad will also be charged a management fee of MOP61,450 per month.
SCRS will provide monthly payments during the concession period, including MOP2.08m (US$259,610) for the first three months and MOP1.25m per month from the fourth through the 34th month. According to Melco, this will help cover pre-opening costs, IT systems and recruitment of qualified staff.
Melco said that the new venture will offer discounted imaging and diagnostic medical body check-up packages for clients and employees at Studio City, Altira and City of Dreams.
