Macau.- MGM China has announced it has become aware of the creation and dissemination of a fake video generated using artificial intelligence (AI). The video impersonated Pansy Ho, chairperson and executive director of MGM China Holdings, to promote a fictitious investment plan.
MGM China stated that neither the company nor Ho endorsed the purported investment plan.
The company said: “MGM China condemns these acts of impersonation and misrepresentation in the strongest terms and reserves all legal rights against the parties involved, to protect our rights and interests.”
“To prevent the further spread of misinformation, MGM China respectfully requests that all parties cease disseminating the fraudulent video and its associated claims,” it added.
MGM China revenue climbs in Q2
MGM China shared its financial results for the second quarter of the year. Net revenue of HK$8.7bn (US$1.11bn) was up 8.75 per cent due primarily to an increase in casino revenue from main floor table games.
The casino operator posted its highest quarterly adjusted EBITDA of HK$2.5bn (US$319m), up 6.1 per cent from the previous quarter and 4.2 per cent year-on-year. Adjusted EBITDA surpassed 2019 pre-Covid levels by 172 per cent.
