PAGCOR and PCSO to distribute US$2.4m worth of medical vans nationwide

The donation covers 70 fully equipped Patient Transport Vehicles.

The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has announced the donation of PHP141m (US$2.4m) worth of Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for distribution to beneficiaries across the country. The partnership of the two government agencies was sealed with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) held at the PAGCOR Corporate Office in Pasay City on October 15.

According to the agency, the donation covers 70 fully equipped PTVs that will be distributed by PCSO to qualified local government units (LGUs) to improve access to emergency medical transport and healthcare services, especially in underserved areas. Each PTV unit comes with a GPS navigation system, stretcher, medical oxygen, wheelchair and first aid kit.

Alejandro H. Tengco, PAGCOR chairman and CEO said: “These vehicles are not mere means of transport – they are lifelines that can spell the difference between life and death for those who need immediate medical attention.

“By combining PAGCOR’s resources with PCSO’s long-standing experience in health-related programs, we can reach more communities and save more lives.” He thanked PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles and his team for the collaboration.

The 70-unit donation forms part of PAGCOR’s commitment to provide a total of 246 PTVs to local government units, hospitals, and frontline agencies across the Philippines. Since February this year, PAGCOR on its own has already distributed 60 PTV units to various beneficiary institutions and agencies.

Earlier this month, the Department of Finance (DOF) awarded PAGCOR a Certificate of Recognition for its contributions to the treasury through dividends amounting to PHP12.7bn (US$219m) in 2024.

PAGCOR had the third-highest remittance in 2024 after the Landbank of the Philippines (PHP33.5bn – US$577.6m) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (PHP18.9bn – US$325.9m). Of PAGCOR’s PHP12.7bn dividends, PHP8.45bn (US$145.7m) represents the mandatory 50 per cent government share of PAGCOR’s net income, while the remaining PHP4.22bn (US$72.8m) represents a 25 per cent advance that may be applied to future obligations.
