The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has committed Php 5m (US$86,300) to support the national women’s football team, the Filipinas, ahead of the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia from March 1 to 21.
According to PAGCOR, the funds will help cover expenses for training camps, international friendlies, and other pre-tournament activities in Australia, while also supporting efforts towards competitions such as the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The contribution comes in the wake of a Supreme Court order directing PAGCOR to hand over 5 per cent of its gross revenues to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). However, Alejandro Tengco, PAGCOR chairman and CEO, said the funding goes beyond regulatory obligations.
Tengco said that PAGCOR seeks to back athletes who bring pride and recognition to the country.
Philippine Football Federation (PFF) president John Anthony Gutierrez welcomed the support.
