Pakistan.- YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, better known as Ducky Bhai, has been released from Lahore’s Camp Jail several days after being granted bail in a case that involves allegations that he promoted illegal online gambling applications to his audience.
The case has become one of Pakistan’s most closely watched investigations into the promotion of unlicensed betting and trading apps. Cybercrime investigators allege that Rehman used his YouTube channel and other social platforms to encourage users to invest in gambling apps, a charge he denies.
Investigators also allege that the YouTuber paid US$100,000 to officers from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in an effort to avoid prosecution. Internal probes led to the arrest and dismissal of six NCCIA officers, including four senior officers, over alleged bribery and misuse of authority.
