The foreign-only casino operator says all closing conditions have been fulfilled.
South Korea.- Paradise Co will complete the acquisition of the West Wing at the Grand Hyatt Incheon tomorrow (January 6). That’s according to a regulatory filing submitted to the Korea Exchange.
The KRW210bn (US$145.2m) transaction, which has faced delays since being announced in September, marks a strategic expansion of the company’s hotel infrastructure adjacent to its flagship Paradise City integrated resort. In the filing, the foreign-only casino operator said all closing conditions had been fulfilled.
The West Wing is a 500-room hotel facility that was added in 2014 to what was originally the Hyatt Regency Incheon, a property that opened in 2003 and was later rebranded as the Grand Hyatt Incheon. The complex is managed by KAL Hotel Network.
By directly controlling hotel capacity next to one of its flagship casinos, the company aims to reduce reliance on third-party accommodation while increasing the potential to capture longer stays and higher gaming spend.
Paradise Co also operates foreigner-only casinos at Walkerhill in Seoul, in Busan, and on Jeju Island. The purchase will be executed through Paradise Segasammy Co Ltd, the operating entity behind Paradise City, the integrated resort in Incheon, jointly developed with Japan’s Sega Sammy Holdings.
