Police say unlicensed online gambling was being run from a residential property in Muntinlupa.

The Philippines.- Police in the Philippines have detained 13 people in Muntinlupa, in the National Capital Region, over alleged illegal online gambling.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) say they initially visited a residential property in Ayala Alabang to serve an arrest warrant against a suspect accused of violating the Access Devices Regulation Act and the Cybercrime Prevention Act. Discovery of alleged online gambling operations led to the detention of 12 other people found at the property.

Police confiscated several electronic devices, which are undergoing forensic analysis as part of an ongoing investigation. The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has said that online gaming was being conducted without a licence. The regulator also said the operation violated the country’s ban on offshore gaming operators (POGOs).
