Visitor arrivals reached 6.48 million amid visa-free access for Chinese travellers.
The Philippines.- The Philippines recorded 6,484,060 visitor arrivals in 2025, generating an estimated PHP694bn (US$12bn) in tourism receipts. That’s according to data released by the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Visitor numbers were up by just 0.76 per cent year-on-year. Of the total, 5,940,975 were foreign visitors, while 543,085 were returning overseas Filipinos. Although international arrivals remained below pre-pandemic levels and fell short of the DOT’s projection of 8.4 million, authorities welcomed the result amid global travel headwinds, fiscal constraints and market volatility.
There was an uptick in December with 625,484 arrivals, 20 per cent higher than December 2024. It was the strongest monthly performance since January.
South Korea remained the country’s largest source market in 2025despite an 18.5 per cent year-on-year decline to 1.35 million arrivals. China, traditionally a major feeder market for casino resorts, contributed 237,101 arrivals, down 14.3 per cent taking to to sixth place among source markets. Industry analysts expect Chinese visits to pick following the Philippines’ recent decision to grant visa-free entry to Chinese visitors.
The move to ease travel restrictions for Chinese tourists is widely viewed as a positive development for the nation’s casino sector, particularly for the integrated resorts in Entertainment City, Manila, which have historically depended on Chinese play to support mass and VIP gaming volumes. Analysts have noted that improved access could help lift both visitation and gaming revenues in 2026, provided geopolitical and regional travel conditions stabilise.
