Gokongwei is expected to acquire up to a 15 per cent stake in PhilWeb
The Philippines.- PhilWeb Corporation has appointed Lance Y. Gokongwei to its board of directors amid his planned P2.02bn (US$32.8m) strategic investment in the Philippine-listed gaming technology company. The appointment takes effect immediately after the board accepted the resignations of directors Atty. Susana C. Fong and Ismael Augusto S. Gozon.
Gokongwei, who serves as president and chief executive officer of JG Summit Holdings Inc, is expected to acquire up to a 15 per cent stake in PhilWeb making him one of the company’s largest shareholders once the transaction is completed.
The board has elected Aldous Brigino as an independent director to fill the second vacancy. The company has also restructured its Audit Committee, naming Brigino as chairman, while independent directors Daniel Tirona Francisco and Anthony Ferdinand C. Yu were appointed as committee members.
