Police in Balotra seized gaming equipment and financial records.
India.- Police in the Indian city of Balotra have dismantled an alleged underground casino operation that was running under the cover of a video game centre. Following a tip-off, officers say they uncovered gaming equipment, financial records and evidence of betting activity.
The Times of India reported that, according to investigators, the operation was located in Palika Bazaar near the city’s new bus stand and beneath a hair salon. During the raid, officers confiscated 12 gaming machines along with account books and other materials. The suspected operators managed to flee before police arrived at the scene.
Authorities say wagers totalling ₹2.88 crore (US$316,500) had been placed, generating profits of ₹76.56 lakh (US$84,100) for the operators. Investigators are analysing the documents to identify additional individuals involved and trace the flow of funds.
Police have registered a case under India’s Gambling Act against several suspects and launched a manhunt to locate those responsible.
