Airline expansion talks gain momentum as airport growth accelerates ahead of the opening of Wynn Al Marjan.
United Arab Emirates.- Ras Al Khaimah International Airport chairman Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi has told Skift that the airport is targeting carriers from China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Southeast Asia, and seeking additional routes to key European markets. The strategy reflects expectations of passenger growth driven by new tourism developments in the emirate, including the Wynn Al Marjan casino resort.
Ras Al Khaimah International Airport surpassed one million passengers for the first time in 2025, with a 51 per cent year-on-year increase. While growth is expected to slow to around 5 per cent in 2026, but authorities say capacity upgrades remain a priority.
Plans include the construction of a new 30,000-square-metre passenger terminal that could double or triple the airport’s current capacity, alongside ongoing refurbishment of existing facilities. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi said the airport is working with the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority to identify priority source markets and support new airline launches, including potential full-service carriers.
The airport is also expanding its focus on private and business aviation. A partnership with Falcon Aviation will see the development of a dedicated private jet terminal.
