Sands China holds Chinese New Year outreach drive

Volunteers prepared 2,000 gift packs ahead of the year of the horse.

Macau.- Sands China has run its annual Sands Cares Spring Celebrations with the Community, preparing and distributing Lunar New Year gift packs and essential items as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts in Macau. Around 300 participants, including senior management, team members from approximately 20 departments and Sands Cares Ambassadors took part in the volunteer programme.

They prepared more than 20,000 staple food items and essential supplies and assembled 2,000 Chinese New Year gift packs containing items such as cooking oil, rice, noodles, cleaning supplies and handwritten spring couplets with festive well wishes. The gift packs were sourced with local NGO Fuhong Society of Macau and were delivered by Sands Cares volunteers to elderly recipients of the Peng On Tung service and other people in need.

Sands China senior leadership visited local small and medium-sized enterprises participating in the company’s Entrepreneurship Recruitment Programme for Rua das Estalagens. Executives also took part in cultural activities such as learning to write spring couplets.

The initiative forms part of Sands Cares, a global corporate citizenship programme that focuses on volunteerism, charitable giving, in-kind donations and community services across operating regions.
