Macau.- Sands China and the University of Macau have launched the Sands Responsible Gaming Academy at The Londoner Macao. The initiative follows the aims to deepen industry-academia cooperation in the field of responsible gaming.
The Sands Responsible Gaming Academy is one of eight sub-academies of the Sands China Academy. It seeks to enhance the awareness and well-being of team members and guests, and contribute to Macau’s development of a more mature and sustainable responsible gaming environment.
Sands signed a memorandum of understanding with the university’s Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming (ISCG) focusing on research exchange, talent cultivation and localised implementation of responsible gaming practices.

The launch event included a certificate presentation ceremony for 41 Sands China team members who completed the RG360 Macau Responsible Gaming Specialist Ambassador Course. The course, jointly designed by Sands China and ISCG, combines academic theory with practical application.
Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China, said: “Sands China regards Macau as its home and is firmly committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. Promoting responsible gaming is therefore our mission, as we strive to foster a healthy environment and contribute to Macau’s sustainable development.”
Professor Jun Yu, dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Macau, said that the launch of the Sands Responsible Gaming Academy marked “a new stage in our industry-academia cooperation to build a more robust culture of responsible gaming”.
