The ads have sparked controversy among the public.
Thailand.- The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has made a police report after an SEA Games football match showed ads for an illegal gambling website. The incident occurred on December 3 at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok during the men’s match between Vietnam and Laos. A group of female fans were spotted holding scarves with a gambling website’s name.
The images sparked controversy among the public, with some people wondering whether organisers deliberately allowed the ads or if it was an oversight. Thailand prohibits the promotion of gambling.
According to Kongsak Yodmanee, SAT governor, the authority is taking the issue seriously and has filed a complaint under Computer Crime and Gambling laws. Yodmanee asked the Hua Mak police station to track and prosecute those responsible.
