Singapore.- The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has reported that the country received 3.29 million visitors in July and August. That’s a 4.7 per cent rise in year-on-year terms. In July, there were 1.68 million visitors, the highest number of arrivals this year. In August, there were 1.61 million, according to the STB data.
There were 2.5 million overnight visitors over the two months. That’s a 2 per cent rise compared to the same period last year. The average stay was 3.55 days, a decrease of 3.5 per cent in year-on-year terms.
The largest number of visitors came from China (812,690, flat when compared to last year). Indonesia was the second-biggest source market with 386,3600 arrivals. Australia ranked third, providing 206,430 arrivals.
The STB reported that Singapore received 11.62 million visitors in the first eight months of the year. That’s an increase of 2.7 per cent when compared to the same period last year. For the full year, the STB expects international visitor arrivals to reach between 17 and 18.5 million, bringing in approximately SG$29.0 to SG$30.5bn in tourism receipts.
