SJM Holdings reports revenue growth in H1

Gross gaming revenue (GGR) was up 7.5 per cent year-on-year.

Macau.- SJM Holdings has shared its financial results for the first half of the year. The company posted a loss of HK$182m (US$23.4m), compared to HK$162m (US$20.8m) a year earlier. Gross gaming revenue (GGR) was up 7.5 per cent year-on-year at HK$14.8bn (US$1.9bn).

The GGR for self-promoted casinos rose by 7.8 per cent year-on-year and GGR market share rose to 12.9 per cent from 12.5 per cent in the same period of 2024. According to the company, this was driven by an increase in the market share of Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, which rose from 2.1 to 2.5 per cent.

Non-rolling GGR for self-promoted casinos was 145.5 per cent of the same period in 2019. Hotel, catering, retail, leasing and related services operations posted growth of 11.9 per cent.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) fell by 5.1 per cent year-on-year to HK$1.65bn (US$212m) while EBITDA margin declined by 1.4 points to 11.2 per cent.

Grand Lisboa Palace saw revenue of HK$3.63bn (US$466m) and Grand Lisboa Macau HK$3.76bn (US$482m). SJM said GGR at its other self-promoted casinos grew by 5.4 per cent to HK$2.66bn (US$341m) while GGR at its satellite casinos grew by 6.8 per cent to HK$5.65bn (US$725m). Satellites are to close by the end of this year, with the company to relocate their gaming tables and slot machines to newly acquired floor space at Hotel Lisboa.

SJM is also developing a 3-star hotel in a recently acquired building in Hengqin.
