The New Zealand International Convention Centre is the country’s largest conference and entertainment complex.
New Zealand.- SkyCity Entertainment Group has announced that the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) will open on February 11, 2026.
Launching with a lineup of international and domestic conferences, concerts, and exhibitions, the long-delayed venue will be New Zealand’s largest conference and entertainment complex, capable of hosting up to 4,000 attendees. Its main theatre seats 2,850 people, and its exhibition hall can accommodate 3,300 for banquets.
More than 100 events have already been booked for 2026, including major medical conferences and international symposiums.
SkyCity took possession of the NZICC from Fletcher Construction last month, marking a late milestone for a project that began in 2013 and was originally slated for completion in 2020. Setbacks included fire in 2019 fire that caused structural damage and flooding, followed by pandemic-related lockdowns.
Jason Walbridge, SkyCity CEO, said, “We can’t wait to welcome guests through the NZICC doors from Wednesday, February 11, 2026. With more than 100 events confirmed for 2026, the NZICC is a powerful investment into New Zealand’s future, creating opportunities for local businesses, generating jobs for our wider community and elevating Auckland’s event capabilities on a world stage.”
Prue Daly, general manager NZICC, added: “We look forward to celebrating this milestone with a series of special events during the first few weeks – from a dawn blessing and a spectacular showcase of the building and its world-class food and beverage, to a live concert and a public open day for everyone to enjoy.”
