Thailand.- Labour minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has publicly endorsed the legalisation of casinos in Thailand, asserting potential economic benefits and job creation. Ratchakitprakarn told The Bangkok Post that casinos could generate 50,000 jobs. He said each casino would need at least 10,000 staff.

The lower house at Thailand’s National Assembly will deliberate on a bill to legalise casinos on March 28. It comes after the Thai House of Representatives committee tasked with exploring the potential legalisation announced that it had concluded its study.

Ratchakitprakarn suggested that the casinos be located strategically across secondary provinces in all five regions. The selection criteria aims to prioritise cities with existing tourist attractions and infrastructure, including airports and train stations.
